Africa Tobia Scarpa Designed 1975/2025 The Africa Chair by Afra and Tobia Scarpa is an iconic design that perfectly balances structure, form, and function. It stands as a timeless sculpture celebrating the strength and beauty of wood. 
This re-edition pays tribute to the ancient craft of cabinetmaking. The frame is made from canaletto walnut veneer, and the backrest is crafted as a single piece, then refined into two mirrored sections. Delicate hand-finishing reveals layers of different wood types, creating stunning color variations. The backrest and rear legs connect only at the base, creating a wide gap that adds flexibility to the seat and evokes a totemic image.

Tobia Scarpa graduated in architecture from the University of Venice in 1969 and in that same year won the “Compasso d’Oro”. He has received many other awards as a designer. Some of his works are also on display in the world’s most important museums. With regard to architecture he works with public and private clients, such as the Benetton Group for which he designed the entire industrial complex.
