Muse Monica Förster Designed 2024 Artifort has seen a growing need for warm, soft spaces in residential homes and public spaces alike. Sculptural and flowing forms, which have always been Artifort’s trademark, are a perfect match for these needs.

Muse, by Swedish designer Monica Förster, is a masterpiece of simplicity that seamlessly embraces this vision. An exceedingly comfortable sofa, the Muse invites good conversations and relaxation, both in public spaces and at home. The light and soft aesthetics of this highly social piece lend it great versatility. The elegant arched back that seems to balance delicately on the sofa’s seat is testament to the ingenuity of Artifort’s development team.

“We envisioned a highly sculptural sofa with a curved, arched back,” Monica Förster explains, “and while the materials are understated, they are of exceptional quality.” With its classic steel inner frame with Nosag springs and moulded foam, this sofa family is perfectly suited to Artifort’s world-famous signature sleek upholstery. The long, open back and delicate connection to the seat create the impression of an arch balancing gently on the seat, similar to the concept of the Artifort Suit chair. The open back provides both lightness to the aesthetics of the sofa as well as it enables easy cleaning for contract enviroments. The soft, flowing curves are inviting and make Muse a perfect focal point for any setting. Flirting with the soft flowing furniture of the 60s and 70s, Muse reconnects with a typological heritage of Artifort”.

The Muse collection consists of a 3-seater sofa and a matching ottoman.

Seat height
Muse comes with a standard seat height of 45 cm. The matching ottoman has a seat height of 40 cm.

Upholstery
Upholstery is available in a wide range of premium fabrics in a broad colour palette.

Base
The metal base is specially cast for Muse. The two legs are finished in a powder coating as standard. Choice of fifty colours.

Monica Förster (1966), creator of some of the most internationally renowned objects in contemporary Swedish design today, grew up close to the Arctic circle in the very north of Sweden. Her work is characterized by a strong sense of pure form mixed with a never- ending curiosity for new materials and technology. Always trying to work in a cross-disciplinary way, she invents and renews typologies in industrial, furniture and object design. Her talent for creativity and design blossomed during her studies at two of Sweden's largest design colleges, Beckmans and Konstfack. In 1999 she founded her own Monica Förster Design Studio in Stockholm. Förster has won numerous awards for her work, such as Designer of the Year, and has been exhibited around the world in museums and institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The studio works on an international level with companies such as Alessi, George Jensen, Offecct and Volvo.
